Professional Goals
There is no question that my professional goals link directly to the metaphor of a journey. They are:
Never stop learning
Be active in my school and community
Continue to participate in professional development opportunities
Work closely with my Superintendent and the teachers in my school
Be a good listener and good communicator to colleagues
Remain flexible and open-minded
Take constructive criticism and feedback and continue to improve
Never say "That’s not my job!"
Build positive relationships with colleagues
One of my favorite books is Walden by Henry David Thoreau. In it he proclaims that most of us lead lives of quiet desperation. Early in my career I received an NEH grant to study the Transcendentalist writers. With a group of educators I discussed that very notion, and since that time, I have made it a personal habit of remaining mindful of my life choices. I have indeed tried to view life as a journey of discovery, and have moved along my path with the hope that I will continue to find the work that I do rewarding and meaningful, enriching my life over the course of my journey.
